I did it!
I handed in my last essay for my Masters in Social Science (International Development) last Monday! Yippeee! After 4.5 years, it is a great feeling to complete it but a little sad in a way too as I really enjoyed the continuous learning, writing, analysis and inspiration of other students and lecturers - despite working full-time and other life changes happening simultaneously!
This weekend I have been celebrating with a relaxing massage and facial yesterday and a dinner at Bacash seafood restaurant in South Yarra last night with Andrew. Have been craving oysters so ordered half dozen for an entree and shared with Andrew those and a tuna sashimi dish then had red mullet with shoestring fries and salad for main - really good - the plates were cleared.
The restaurant was full and buzzing - with the middle-aged South Yarra/Toorak set I think - table next to us were discussing the politics of their children’s sporting teams, at an exclusive Melbourne private school I’m sure and on the other side, a middle-aged sophisticated looking lady was wearing what looked like a leather dress. Good on her for being able to get away with it. I wouldn’t have the guts!

Congratulations - It must be a relief for you even though you’d miss it a bit. All that food talk has made me hungry.
We went out with Bubaliscious in Sydney and went to Envy in Summer Hill. A lovely little Art Café. The food is really nice there. And we were in luck it wasn’t raining so we could sit in the courtyard. It was really nice.
Oh leather did you say? Bet Andrew has a big leather coat hidden somewhere in the house.
Thanks and glad you got to meet up, sounds like a great cafe.
Hee hee - he does have a leather jacket actually! But it’s quite understated compared to the leather dress!!!
Congratulations, Ruth, on completing another step in your academic pursuits. Another string to your bow, as the saying goes!!
The seafood meal sounded delicious. I wonder why you were craving oysters!! I didn’t know you were fond of oysters. That would make a nice change.
Looking forward to seeing you at the end of the year.
I love oysters!! I could eat a dozen no problem!
Well, I never knew that, Ruthie. Did you ever taste Bluff oysters? I only like them cooked but I do love Oysters Kilpatrick. Maybe we could get some for Chirstmas.
Yes good idea! I only like them raw so we could do some of each. Never tasted Bluff oysters! Can you only get them in Neu Zieeland?
Probably. Next time you cross the Tasman you’ll have to treat yourself to some. You’re a chip off the old block liking oysters!!
