Nobody loves the wicked
Green lights lit up the town hall and the plane trees on Collins as we walked up from Flinders St towards the land of Oz. It was a while ago that we saw Wicked the musical, the story of how the witches of Oz came into being before the time of Dorothy - that’s Glinda the white witch and the wicked witches of the East and West.
The Theatre Royale in Melbourne was magnificent and even though we were way back in the heavens, it didn’t subdue our enjoyment of the show.
Besides the great singing, colourful sets and interesting portrayal of the paradoxes within the concepts of good and evil i.e. that all is not black and white, highlights were realising Anthony Callea was a munchkin and sharing the audience with two drag queens (dressed as white and black witches of course).
We were lucky enough the next week to see Guys and Dolls the musical as well as Andrew’s Mum couldn’t go. It turned out to be excellent (I wasn’t expecting a lot from it) and we were surprised to see Magda Szubanski, Gary Macdonald and Lisa McCune in the cast.
Speaking of Melbourne culture, the town is going wild today with AFL grand final fever. Since we live near Hawthorn, I’m thinking of adopting that team even though I know zilch about the game. More interesting though was picking up our new Honda Civic from Ballarat this morning (nice new car smell) and second to that, seeing a truck catch flames on the freeway while driving back! Luckily the people had gotten out in time and were running up the road warning the other drivers. We just got past as two fire engine raced up so probably avoided a traffic jam.

Wicked is AMAZING - loved Amanda, Anthony and Penny especially.
and GO THE HAWKS!!!!
Wicked was great! Guys and Dolls surprisingly so as well
Yay for the new car too!! Was an early start this morning to get to Ballarat and pick the car up but all worth it
Go The Hawks!!! Great to see them win a premiership after so long (well 17 years is quite a bit).
Now we just have to find a house/unit
Wicked was absolutely fantastic - I loved it from start to finish. I also loved Amanda Anthony and Penny. I would have loved to hear more singing from both Anthony and Penny. The both have such amazing voices.
Go the Hawkes I’m so excited they won.
You are so lucky to be living where you can take advantage of going to these wonderful live stage shows….make the most of it all!!
Your new car sounds lovely and I’m looking forward to having a whirl in it sometime.
Nice to have a new instalment in Mozzeenet XX
