North and Further North
Have spent the last two weekends out of Melbourne having a wonderful time meeting up with friends and family.

The weekend before last I spent time with Ian in Sydney before he flies off to Thailand for a year doing an AusAid Youth Ambassador assignment like I did in Cambodia. It was great to see him and spend the night at the old place at Annandale where I used to live too. He’s done very well to get rid of most of his stuff. Good luck to Ian and can’t wait to hear all the stories!
It was amusing as he was putting some of his unwanted things out on the street including his single bed which he had inherited from me. It is funny how quickly “stuff” gets picked up by passersby. He’d put out a video player on a stand in the morning with a little sign on it and it had gone within the hour.
We had dinner with Nick at his flat in Maroubra which has astounding views of the beach, ocean and city skyline. Gorgeous! He is also moving out so I’m glad I got to see it before that. He made a great pasta bake and peach bread and butter pudding dessert.

On the Sunday I caught up with Amit, Dave, Loretta and Katy at the Opera bar at Circular Quay (see Amit’s blog for a bit more of a write-up). It was a fun-filled couple of hours and great to see everyone and catch up with all the news.
Last weekend we visited Dad on the far North coast and basked in blissfully sunny weather. We thoroughly enjoyed a swim in the ocean (wonderfully warm water), a visit to the colourful Channon Market in the hills near Lismore on the way to Nimbin, a couple of BBQ dinners and a nice lunch at Lennox Head. It was very relaxing and good to see Dad. Surprisingly, it is the first time Andrew and Dad have met because Dad only got back from living in Thailand at the beginning of last year and we spent most of last year settling into Melbourne and travelling back and forth to Sydney (as well as our trip to NZ, my trip to India and visiting Mum at Maleny for Xmas of course).

Nice Pic/story Ruth, weather still near perfect, golf a bit ordinary, we should have had some of my home grown tomatoes on the weekend, I gave some to Jimmy, he was pleased.
All well in the bay
