Moving house
In the throes of moving house. Andrew and I have found a great place to move into – a 2BR villa with polished floorboards and lots of space. Very excited! It will be nice to live in a house again – there are 2 other villas on the block, all separated by a lock-up garage so no common walls.
We’ve both had problems with noise from neighbours in the places where we’re living now. The guy downstairs from me is in a band and they practice some nights and he also plays music really loudly, sometimes after midnight. Andrew’s place has really thin walls so you can hear everyone and in his room, you can hear a fan constantly running somewhere. That’s the downside of living in apartments.
Saying that, I’m going to miss my little place as it has been so comfortable and convenient. I’ve loved living near the great cafes and shops on Carlisle St and being 2 mins from the train station. We’ll be in a different kind of area now, less inner city but also near the great shopping area of Camberwell. It has your high street stores rather than the more unique places in Balaclava but still good cafes, restaurants, a big supermarket and a fresh food market. Looks like the transport will be just as good for me too – 7 min walk to the station and only 12 mins direct to Parliament station for work instead of having to change at Richmond as I do now.
Been doing all the things you have to when you move like connecting utilities, telephone etc. We’ve made a really positive step in regards to electricity – we’ve taken a green energy package from TruEnergy which uses 50% wind and 50% hydro-electric energy. It amounts to only about $2.50/week extra. After seeing ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ we’re conscious of making choices that help to slow global warming.
