Enjoying the sunshine
Lots of us including some friendly four-legged creatures were enjoying the sunshine last Saturday (see photo below taken at a service station on the way back from Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula). It was gorgeous. I know people further north probably experience this every day but I can tell you when you live somewhere that gets really cold, you so appreciate those balmy sunny days.

The morning started off overcast but by midday there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and it was really warm – almost even T-shirt and shorts weather. After a quick drive down to Sorrento and back to pick up 12 loaves of gluten-free bread for Andrew’s mother, we headed over to a cafe opposite the botanic gardens to meet up with some friends for a quick lunch.
After that, Andrew and I walked around the botanic gardens with a stop inside the war memorial where we were lucky to catch a presentation about the history of it and a short ceremony where a ray of light passed across the memorial stone in the centre atrium area. Also watched a bit of interesting footage of the soldiers on the kokoda trail.
The greenery and spring flowers were lovely to see, such an oasis in the city.

It was such a beautiful weekend last week. The trip down to Sorento, the lunch with Tee, Sonia, Ivan and Benjamin and the walk through the Botanical Gardens were all fantastic and de-stressing. It was good to get out for a good walk. The weather was just sensational
. It was such a stark contrast to this weekend…
Yes very different to this weekend so I’m glad we made the most of the nice weather when it was here! The wind seems to have caused some havoc in NSW over the weekend as well so we can’t blame Melbourne this time.
Those spring flowers are absolutely gorgeous and in a climate like yours are so welcome and appreciated. At least you get the distinct change of seasons in Melb. I missed the seasons when I moved to Aus from NZ. I remember the Blossom Festival in Alexandra to herald in the Spring after the icy Winter and the beautiful golden poplars which lined the Clutha River in the Autumn. And of course all the summer berries and lucsious stone fruit that made Central Otago so famous.
I hope you enjoy the Springtime and warmer days in Melb from now on. We are starting to get summery weather here on the North Coast of NSW.
Yes that is a really nice part about it – the deciduous trees which line some of the streets here are really beautiful and there are some nice gardens around. Someone from my work went to see a tulip display last weekend.
I LOVE that photo of the dog looking out of the car window!!
Yeah it cracked me up when I saw that dog
