Now this situation needs some explaining. This beautiful vase and enormous bunch of pink lilies was given to me by Andrew but originally, the flowers were given to Andrew - by a car dealer! On Friday when he sealed the deal for his new silver 2000 model Peuogot 306, he was presented with them. And I was lucky enough to end up with them sitting on my table, being able to enjoy their dazzling glory and sweet scent.

Now you may also notice beside them, although they are dwarfed by this eye-catching arrangment, a small bunch of orchids humbly displayed in an empty Old El Paso taco sauce bottle.

Well it was the sweetest thing. When we were returning from the city last weekend and walking past a florist in Balaclava, Andrew asked me if I would like something. We walked inside and he chose this unassuming bunch of purple orchids. I love the shape of the buds and the petals and the delicate colour. I didn’t have a vase so I found this old bottle on top of the fridge to put them in.

While the ‘look-at-me’ bunch of lilies is certainly beautiful and impressive, the taco sauce bottle of wilting orchids is the true centrepiece here.
